Mild steel yoke plate are connectors made primarily of low-carbon steel, with a carbon content typically between 0.05% and 0.25%. They offer excellent cost-effectiveness and good mechanical properties, making them suitable for low- to medium-load applications in fields such as power, construction, and communications. Their main components are iron and 0.05%-0.25% carbon, with the addition of small amounts of manganese and silicon to improve machinability and corrosion resistance. They possess a tensile strength of approximately 400-550 MPa and a yield strength of 300-440 MPa, exhibiting good ductility and withstanding certain tensile and bending deformations without easily breaking. From a user's perspective, low-carbon steel raw materials are readily available, the production process is simple, and the price is only 1/3 to 1/2 that of stainless steel yokes, making them an economical choice for low- to medium-load applications.

Mild steel yoke plates are high-performance connectors used in infrastructure fields such as power, communications, and construction. Due to their advantages in processing performance and mechanical strength, they are the preferred product for medium and low load scenarios. They have plasticity and toughness and can be customized through various processes such as stamping and welding. They can be exported to different countries and are also a very competitive hardware product in foreign trade exports.

There are many processing techniques for mild steel yoke plates, which can be broadly categorized into three types to suit different loads and installation scenarios. We will now introduce them in detail:

Hot-rolled stamping: Low-carbon steel plates are heated to a high temperature and then stamped using a die. It is suitable for applications with loads <10t. Its main advantages are high production efficiency and low cost, but the surface has a slightly rough texture;

Cold-rolled precision stamping: Low-carbon steel plates are precision stamped and drilled at room temperature. The dimensional tolerance can be controlled within ±0.1mm. It is suitable for high-precision installation applications with loads <5t. The surface is smooth, the hole positions are precise, and no secondary processing is required;

In terms of appearance and structure, the mainstream shape of Mild steel yoke plates is rectangular. The number of holes in the plate body is divided into double-hole, triple-hole, and multi-hole shapes according to the number of connecting parts, which can be adapted to outdoor environments with large temperature differences.

The disadvantage of mild steel yoke plates lies in their relatively weak corrosion resistance. If used in corrosive environments, surface treatment is required to improve weather resistance and adapt to different environmental requirements. Common anti-corrosion treatments include the following:

Hot-dip galvanizing: The formed yoke plate is immersed in molten zinc to form a zinc layer with a thickness of ≥85μm. The zinc layer is tightly bonded to the substrate. Through the principle of sacrificial anode protection, it prevents the steel from rusting. The salt spray test can reach more than 1000 hours. It is suitable for dry and rainy inland areas and has a service life of 15~20 years;

Electro-galvanizing: Electro-galvanizing can form a thin anti-corrosion base layer, and the finished product has a neat appearance and uniform color. It is suitable for scenarios where aesthetics are required and can be applied to urban power distribution networks, civil buildings and other fields;

Painting treatment: This is a very low-cost anti-corrosion solution for mild steel yoke plates, but its service life is also relatively short, usually 3-5 years. Protection is achieved by spraying anti-rust paint and topcoat, and it is suitable for indoor dry environments or temporary buildings.

 

Mild steel yoke plates have the advantages of high cost performance and strong versatility, occupying a very important market in low-load projects worldwide, and are also a major product for the development of foreign trade business.

High cost performance

Due to the simple processing technology, the product price is low, making it more economical to choose in medium and low load scenarios, especially for projects with limited budgets, such as rural power grid transformation and communication base station construction in developing countries. While meeting performance requirements, it can significantly reduce project costs.

Multi-scenario adaptability

Hole positions, dimensions, and surface treatment solutions can be customized according to user needs. Whether it is power fittings or communication towers, which are basically building steel structures, matching specifications and models can be found without the need for additional accessories, and they comply with the international IEC 61567 production standard.

Easy to process

This is the main advantage of low carbon steel. Its excellent processing performance can shorten the production cycle of products. Therefore, some regular models are in stock and can be delivered quickly within 3 days after the order is placed. Even non-standard customization only takes two weeks, which can meet the urgent delivery needs of foreign trade orders.
