The UB-12 Clevis is primarily used in overhead power lines and substations, connecting insulator strings with other components, ensuring reliable connections between various power equipment and fittings while withstanding corresponding tensile loads. Its high breaking load of 120kN makes it suitable for connections requiring high load-bearing capacity. During use, the UB-12 bracket is subject to stringent performance requirements, requiring it to possess sufficient strength and toughness to withstand the tensile loads of various power line operating conditions, ensuring it resists deformation or breakage.

UB-12
120kN breaking load, made of hot-dip galvanized steel with a zinc layer ≥ 70μm, suitable for Ø22mm, used for connecting insulator strings on conventional transmission lines;
UB-12Z
The "Z" suffix indicates cast iron construction. Loads are lower than 120kN, and it cannot be used in salt spray or high vibration environments;
UB-1275
1275kN breaking load, featuring thickened webs and flanges, primarily suitable for heavy-duty applications.
UB-12 Clevis may experience various faults over extended use. These faults must be promptly addressed to ensure continued operation:
Corrosion Damage
If the galvanized coating peels or the steel corrodes, repairs are necessary. These are primarily due to poor zinc coating quality or prolonged exposure to high humidity, saline-alkali environments, or industrial pollution.
Mechanical Damage
Cracks and deformations in the UB-12 Clevis body, chipping or wear at the edges of the connection holes, or excessive clearance between the bolts and holes are common. These are often caused by improper operation or vibration or wind loads from conductors during operation.
Connection Failure
Bolts become loose or broken, due to material not meeting specified requirements or the cladding model being incompatible.
Dimensional Deviation
Poor fit between the cladding panel and other hardware prevents bolts from being inserted smoothly. Gaps and wobble occur after connection. Inadequate dimensional accuracy during processing, or deformation during transportation and storage can result in dimensional discrepancies between the actual dimensions and design specifications.
UB-12 Clevis with corrosion damage require regular inspection, as corrosion resistance is a key advantage of the cladding panel. Use a thickness gauge to measure the zinc coating thickness at multiple evenly spaced points on the cladding surface-for example, one on the outside, one on the inside, and one near the bolt holes. Generally, a thickness of 85μm or greater meets the requirement. If the zinc coating thickness falls below the standard or shows obvious plating leakage, it indicates a decrease in corrosion resistance and a high risk of rust. In this case, consider repairing the UB-12 Clevis or replacing it with a new one.
