The QH ball head hanging ring is the core hardware that connects the suspension insulator with the conductor and the tower in the power line. It adopts the ball head-bowl head structure design, provides multi-directional rotation freedom, can effectively alleviate the mechanical stress caused by dynamic loads, and reduce the risk of metal fatigue. The ball head end is precisely forged and polished to ensure seamless embedding and free rotation with the insulator bowl head. The hanging ring end is fixed with the suspension wire clamp, tension wire clamp and other hardware by bolts or closed pins to form surface contact force transmission. The surface treatment of the QH ball head hanging ring is hot-dip galvanizing, the zinc layer is ≥50μm, the anti-corrosion life is ≥15 years, and the stainless steel material is more suitable for coastal and chemical areas, with very good results.

 

The performance characteristics of QH ball head hanging ring depend on the perfect production process. Every step should be done well during production:

Raw material preparation

Select carbon steel or round steel of specific steel grade as the base material to ensure that the mechanical strength and ductility meet the nominal load requirements, remove the rust on the surface of the round steel, and cut it to the preset length;

Forging

Heat the round steel to 1100-1200℃ through medium frequency heating, and perform high-temperature die forging through the mold to initially form the geometric contours of the ball head and the hanging ring, control the forging temperature and pressure, eliminate internal defects such as pores and slag inclusions, and improve the structural density;

Ball head polishing

Use a grinding wheel or CNC machine tool to finely grind and polish the surface of the ball head to eliminate burrs and reduce friction resistance with the insulator bowl head;

Drilling

Drill bolt holes or closed pin holes at the end of the hanging ring to adapt to different connection hardware;

Hot-dip galvanizing

Immerse the forging in 450-460℃ zinc liquid for galvanizing, the zinc layer thickness is ≥50μm, meeting the GB/T 2314 standard, and the anti-corrosion life is more than 15 years.

QH ball head hanging rings should be tested for performance after production. A tensile testing machine is used to apply 120% nominal load to the finished product for 1 minute without deformation or cracks. The ball head diameter, aperture and other key dimensions are tested by a three-coordinate measuring instrument to ensure compatibility with the insulator.

 

There are many types of QH ball head hanging rings. When choosing a model, we should consider the following aspects:

Nominal load adaptation

Select the corresponding model according to the mechanical load of the line design, and a 20% safety margin must be reserved for the dynamic load;

Voltage level coverage

Determine whether the use environment is low-voltage power distribution, high-voltage power transmission, or ultra-high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage lines;

Corrosion protection

Choose hot-dip galvanized materials for conventional outdoor environments, stainless steel materials are recommended for high salt fog and chemical areas, and Q235A forgings that have been heat-treated at low temperatures are selected in extremely cold areas to ensure material ductility;
