Z-shaped Right-angle Hanging Board
Details
Those involved in power line construction and power grid procurement encounter Z-type right-angle mounting plates almost daily. While not a large, unremarkable piece of hardware, and easily overlooked among transmission line components, it's an indispensable transition accessory in distribution lines. On construction sites, it's often casually called a steering mounting plate or right-angle suspension plate—different names, but all referring to the same component.

Description

Those involved in power line construction and power grid procurement encounter Z-type right-angle mounting plates almost daily. While not a large, unremarkable piece of hardware, and easily overlooked among transmission line components, it's an indispensable transition accessory in distribution lines. On construction sites, it's often casually called a steering mounting plate or right-angle suspension plate-different names, but all referring to the same component.

The upper end of the Z-type right-angle mounting plate is typically connected to the crossarm via a long bolt, forming a front-to-back rotation axis. The lower end usually uses a slotted connection (including single-plate and double-plate types), connecting to the insulator string side, forming a left-to-right rotation axis. This 90-degree angled structure makes it flexible and adaptable in overhead power lines and substations, commonly used to connect suspension insulators with suspension clamps to form suspension strings, or with tension clamps to form tension strings.

Daily selection doesn't need to be overly complicated; mainstream models on the market are easy to distinguish. The industry-standard Z-series models, Z-7, Z-10, and Z-12, are sufficient for most 10kV outdoor power distribution projects. The model numbers directly represent the nominal load, eliminating the need for complex conversions. On-site workers can simply select the appropriate model based on load requirements, making it very easy to use. It is suitable for conventional suspension and corner installations.

Z-type Right Angle Mounting Plate Core Structure and Applications

90° Turn Connection: Specifically designed to connect two mutually right-angled single-plate fittings, perfectly solving problems such as insufficient space and structural interference in power lines, achieving the conversion between vertical and horizontal forces.

Application Scenarios: Widely used in 10kV and above high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and power distribution projects. Commonly found at single-plate hanging points on tower crossarms, or in tension strings where the connection direction needs to be changed.

With structural improvements, the Z-type right angle mounting plate has spawned several new models, such as ZS, ZBS, and ZBD. Some structurally improved products have also been given new names (such as trunnion mounting plates), but their core connection principle remains the same.

Without fancy design or added features, the Z-shaped right-angle bracket is a practical and basic accessory for power lines. Relying on its mature structure, stable load-bearing capacity, and long-term corrosion resistance, it bears all the tension at line corners, balancing cost-effectiveness and construction safety. Whether for new power distribution projects or the maintenance and replacement of old lines, this classic steering hardware remains the industry's preferred choice.
